For the month's of November through January, we are featuring the artwork of East Bay artists Lise Silva and Simone Rosenberg. Lise is showcasing some wall hangings and necklaces from her Sacred Knot collection. Simone has brought in a series of drawings, paintings, and terrariums focusing on plant life and the animal kingdom.
Lise Silva is an artist working in fibers, ink, paint, and photography. After living in cities around the world from Rio de Janeiro to Washington DC while working in illustration & photography, she has recently settled in Oakland, California to focus on her Sacred Knots collection of fiber jewelry and wallhangings. Incorporating ancient knot designs, cord wrapping, and elements of beading and brass shapes, she creates wearable art and home objects with powerful symbolic meaning. Her influences include the practice of mediation, knotting traditions, art deco design, surrealism, fiber art and fashions of the 60s and 70s, psychedelic art, and 1940s film noir. Her work has been described as lux, mysterious, dreamy, & feminine.
Simone Rosenberg is a working artist residing in the California Bay Area. She works in many mediums, including watercolor, acrylic, color pencil, sculpture and photography. She is influenced by nature and animals, shamanic journeys and psychadelia.
